Lago Raia

Excursion that combines the beauty of the landscape with fun and exciting gallops on soft and easy terrain. Starting from the Traina farm, after a few kilometers we see Lake Raia and after passing the dam we find ourselves immersed in an almost surreal atmosphere of stillness and silence. In favorable climatic situations it is also possible to walk along some stretches along the shore of the lake in shallow waters.
This water basin, of artificial origin, dates back to the times of fascism, a period in which Mussolini had dams and hydroelectric plants built, which still exist and function, especially in the Sicano area, where there has always been a rich presence of natural water sources. Some of the typical scenarios of the Sicani Mountains frame this experience: the rocky massif of Rocca Busambra to the north, overlooking the Ficuzza Wood Reserve, Monte Colomba to the west, bordering the territory of the city of Corleone, the town of Prizzi, steep on a mountainous area to the east, and the Indisi, Hippana and Montagna Delle Rose mountains overlooking the town of Palazzo Adriano on the southern slope.
